Eric Mattessich, a senior at NJIT, has been featured in The New York Times and Popular Science magazine.
That’s because his research is big news: Eric has designed a device to reduce emissions from hybrid car engines. His device, once manufactured, could reduce greenhouse gas emissions from hybrids by 20 percent. It would also increase the efficiency of hybrid engines by 20 percent.

Japan’s Toyota Motor Corp has begun working to resolve a brake problem in its flagship Prius hybrid vehicles.
The fix comes after the company announced it was recalling more than 400,000 cars in the latest in a series of embarassing quality problems.
On Wednesday Toyota announced a further recall, this time affecting some 7,000 of its 2010 Camry model, which it says has problems with the power-steering.

Eight million Toyota vehicles worldwide had to be recalled after a fault was found with accelerators, and detachable carpets kept sticking to the pedals. This time, it’s the brakes on the car maker’s Prius brand that’s causing trouble. The Japanese firm has received dozens of complaints at home and around a hundred from the United States. It’s a particular blow for Toyota – as the world’s biggest selling hybrid car, the Prius is the company’s pride and joy.

The add-fuel light came on yesterday. So I went another 100 miles before I decided to fill up the tank. Total miles on this tank of gas was 1620 miles. The tank took 9.46 gals to fill. This works out to 171.2mpg.
