I take a pro-environment but critical and scientific and open-eyed look at hybrid cars, with a focus on the Toyota Prius, since it’s like “the” hybrid car.
A number of experimental tests are done as well as an analysis through theory on gas milage, production, breakeven energy, and more.

“Green” Bus in Victoria

If you live in Victoria, you may have seen a sleek-looking bus driving around the city.
It’s the first of it’s kind and is the most “green” bus in the world.
The hybrid electric fuel cell bus is being tested in the capital region until the end of the month, and if BC Transit likes it, it could be the bus of the future.

The Sinclair C5 was one of the first hybrid electric micro cars. It was called an electric tricycle at the time. This allowed it to be marketed as a vehicle that can be driven on the sidewalks by anyone over the age of 14 without a license or insurance. It is similar to the Wycycle (see video). However, the early Wycyclles did not have pedals for moving. And the Wycycle could be folded up and had a top to cover the person. What may be interesting is to see a kind of C5 Wycycle which embraces the latest technology for achieving strenght, weight reduction, motor power and energy efficiency, along with latest battery technology (such as lithium polymer batteries).

Extreme Hybrid Cross Country Tour Begins

The 150 MPG Extreme hybrid suv, the XH-150 introduced in January by AFS Trinity Power Corporation, starts a cross country tour on April 8, 2008 to give Americans their first onroad look at what CNN and others suggested may be “the car of the future,” as the XH-150 works its way to Earth Day on the Capitol Mall in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, April 20, 2008.
Halfway through the cross country trip, the XH-150 will be demonstrated on April 11 for Austin Energy, a large municipal utility as well as for the leadership of Plug-in Partners, an Austin headquartered consortium of electric utilities and others supporting the development and introduction of new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) technologies. AFS Trinity intends to make the XH150 available for selected test drives in several communities from coast to coast.
