Toyota Camry Hybrid. The Toyota Camry Hybrid offers the same roomy interior and sterling reputation as the rest of the Camry line, but in a greener, more eco-friendly package. With fuel economy figures in the mid 30s, the Camry Hybrid is certainly easy on the gas, and can actually operate solely on electric power in stop and go traffic and low-speed around-town jaunts. Bigger than Toyotas other hybrid car, the Prius, the Camry Hybrid not only offers a wider passenger cabin, but also more power and the security of a trunk. Japan’s Toyota Motor Corp has begun working to resolve a brake problem in its flagship Prius hybrid vehicles.
The fix comes after the company announced it was recalling more than 400,000 cars in the latest in a series of embarassing quality problems.
On Wednesday Toyota announced a further recall, this time affecting some 7,000 of its 2010 Camry model, which it says has problems with the power-steering.
Al Jazeera’s Harry Fawcett reports from Tokyo on how Toyota is trying to repair its damaged image. (10 Feb, 2010)
