No mechanic … No mechanic connection between the driver and the road? Scary crap, imagine a runaway like toyota, but the steering also goes south. No Thanks!
As for the car … As for the car itself, I think they have the controls backwards. A handbrake? Unless the average American driver learns to talk on the phone, eat a Big Mac, drink their morning coffee and put on makeup with there feet, I’m not seeing this getting out of the design studio alive.
35.3 cubic feet of … 35.3 cubic feet of hydrogen gas takes about 6 hours of hydrolysis to produce with an input power of 1000 Watts. In order to produce this output from a solar panel, you would need an array measuring about 30 ft. by 50 ft. This setup will probably set you back about 15,000 U.S. dollars if you do some work yourself. So, after 6 hours of direct sunlight you will have in your possession about 35 cubic feet of hydrogen, enough fuel to push your compact car about a mile and a half.
Look into what Bob … Look into what Bob Lazar has developed. He has been running his corvette off hydrogen since the 1970’s. His hydrogen is made using only solar panels, using a standard electrolyzer. He can drive 700 miles on each fill up. His tanks are patented though, using a certain hydride, which he says can withstand a incendiary bullet. He is trying to get this out on the market, but he is fighting a losing battle..
@dreamgear Well, … @dreamgear Well, given that I’ve seen a guy sustain a hydrogen flame with under 2 watts input, I wouldn’t believe you would need a ton of solar panels. Nano-solar has developed a printable solar cell which is under $1 a watt. Who sells solar panels?..Oil companies. All in all, the cost would be far less than paying for gas for the rest of your life.. Rainwater is free and doesn’t cost a cent, but again they have made that illegal to collect rainwater.

They will only put … They will only put this car out if they can convert gas pumps to hydrogen pumps and sell you the fuel again. What they don’t want people to understand is that, all you need is a solar powered electrolyzer, and all your fuel is free from the sun. You could even use filtered rainwater, if collecting rainwater wasn’t made illegal. Never have to pay for gas again. Nothing new though, there are individuals who have run their car on hydrogen since the 1970’s.
So the rebirth of … So the rebirth of the American Car Makers, why not release this car sooner than later and make Toyota and Honda cry. Don’t you think American car makers can do it. Sure they can, but would they. Just ponder it for a while. . . .

Second, imagine trying to get a petrol-fueled auto approved today. They wouldn’t allow it, being a rolling bomb with all that flammable liquid sloshing around. How safe is hydrogen in this application?

The only vehicle I … The only vehicle I like from GM is the Camaro because I grew up in that car and have a soft spot for it. Otherwise I think they’re so stupid because they had the EV1 which was so popular in California, the stupid got rid of it, years later they come to senses bring in the Volt, go bankrupt have their CEO fired and suck on the market. My goodness, I dislike car companies, I can’t believe tax payers like my hard working dad had to help bail them out -.-

The only way we could get one of the N7’s into New York was to drive it on the upper decks, with an escort. The port authority denied our request and then put a traffic law on the books regarding Nitrogen DRIVEN vehicles in tunnels and lower decks. You can find this tidbit of information in the NY Times 7/20/2008 under the automobiles section.
BY LAW, The … BY LAW, The Hydrogen 7 BMW can’t drive on any bridges or through any tunnels in New York, not because it’s dangerous in it’s intact form but because it is a bomb in it’s UN-intact form. Meaning the first nasty accident any Hydrogen car gets into might possible yield a nice city destroying blast. And before anyone suggest there are safety devices in the BMW 7, there aren’t.
It might be the car … It might be the car of the future — if they can get the price down to where average people can buy them. I like the concept of multiple bodies that can be bolted to a common drive platform.
