What a joke! I have dealt with many professors, been through plenty of post-graduate school, and while I appreciate and respect professors, they are by far the most intelligent people on earth.

You try to sound smart by describing different types of engines, but in the real world where we build and modify engines, the difference between an Atkinson cycle and the Otto Cycle is a change in the heads and camshaft. How long have engine builders been doing this? Should a car company be proud that they know how to do this? The HID bulbs in your POS prius are more advanced than this!

I said 15% due to higher energy density per volume, and 15% due to the better thermodynamic cycle of the diesel cycle compared to the otto cycle. It has something to do with compression ratios and specific heat of the fluids.
The Prius has atkinson, which has a better thermodynamic efficiency compared to otto. Diesel produces far more NOx, SOx and soot (toxic). Co2 is NOT toxic.
The Prius is particularly popular with professors, the most intelligent people on earth.

Maybe you should lookup your information. Diesel vehicles are 20-40% more efficient than the equivalent gasoline vehicle; whereas a hybrid is no more than 20%. Diesel has 10-15% fewer emissions as well, and as soon as you add biodiesel into the blend, emissions drop exponentially.
If you think a prius is comfy, then the bleachers at a sports stadium are downright luxurious. the prius isn’t for easy going people; it’s for ego-centric misinformed sheep. But that’s what liberals are.
