if not, point out the inaccuracy…….
hybrids cost a little more than the average car, so do SUV’s
the difference is why consumers have chosen one or the other-
hybrid owners choose to spend the extra money in an effort to reduce emissions and gas consumption, hoping the savings on gas will in the long run help to pay for the extra cost.
SUV owners spend more on the vehicle, and they pay more for gas. im not against SUVs, some people need them. those who live in cold climates or have jobs that require 4 wheel drive, but the vast majority of them never leave dry pavement. that vast majority are paying more and using more……for what?…..safety? sure, but their own safety comes at the expense of other vehicles. by driving larger vehicles that sit higher up, they put others at risk.
so it boils down to spending more, and then getting in return lower emissions, and lower gas consumption or safefy at the expense of others.
how is this not accurate?
Emission laws have been softened by the Republican party that believes not in Global Warming to protect their right to drive SUV’s. I think that is a sign of selfishness myself with no concern to to our planets ecology and environment.
I agree with you. Your information is accurate.
We need desperately to start somewhere to reduce global warming. We can contribute on an individual level by choosing to buy cars that reduce emissions and gas consumption.

I fuckin hate SUV’s, and I especially hate the people who drive them!!! Ive noticed its normally rich women that drive them and it’s totaly not necessary!!! They have massive gas guzzling engines that spew pollution into the air all for what? Nothing, it doesnt get them where they want to go any faster! They only get them because they want to look rich and cool. Phuck them and their stupid SUVs!!!
Do you wanna hear something that sucks!!?
Even if EVERYBODY in the world started driving hybrid cars, then in about 10 years RUNAWAY GLOBAL WARMING will start.
And that means that even if humans vanished off the face of the earth, the earth would still get worse not better. So in about 10 years we are all gonna start to fry, faster and faster until the ice caps melt and we are all swamped! If new orleans thought they had it bad from katrina, they had better think again cause for every kilometre that those SUVs drive there will be a hundred dead people.

While I agree that fuel consumption is an issue for many as is emissions what the heck is wrong with wanting to provide yourself as well as the passengers in the SUV a more secure ride? While I feel sympathy for those killed in accidents with SUV’s perhaps it’s time for people to start realizing that they are safer when in an accident. I just bought one, in fact I own two now and why you might ask. Yes I live where we get a lot of snow and the size and features are beneficial but I will say this with as much grace as I can muster. I don’t give a rat’s rear end about emissions or the safety of some moron that hits me with their battery operated car when my family’s lives are in question. They are my priority and while I hold a small amount of respect for green peace lovers and emissions fanaticals I will go with walking away from an accident any day.

Typical Democrat liberal whining. You have no life, and hate people who DO have one.
GEEZ, just do what makes you happy and quit yer bellyaching. You don’t have a lot of time left to start enjoying your life (when you GET one)

Reducing Gas Prices
We can reduce gas prices, and in many cases reduce our expenses in other areas, by reducing the demand for petroleum products. How do we reduce demand? Easy. Reduce consumption. Here are some suggestions on how to do that:
1. Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Improperly inflated tires reduce gas mileage. Most tires should be inflated to 32-35 psi, but look on your tires for specific numbers.
2. Make sure your engine is properly tuned. An out of tune engine wastes gas and money. Have it checked.
3. When you stop at a stop light, stay stopped until the light is green. Don’t try to ease up a little at a time – this not only wastes gas, but wears out your brakes sooner than normal.
4. Accelerate slowly. Rapid acceleration (“jack rabbit starts”) wastes gas.
5. Use synthetic oil whenever you change or have your oil changed. Since it’s synthetic, you are not using a petroleum product therefore you are reducing demand. Most cars actually get better gas mileage with synthetic oil, so it’s a win win.
6. Whenever possible, use alternative fuels such as biodiesel or E85. They not only reduce petroleum consumption, but they are cheaper and better for the environment. Unfortunately, they are not widely available yet in most places, but start asking about them when you buy gas and fuel distributors will begin to get the message; if they think there is a market, they will supply that market.
7. Don’t rush out to buy a new car… but if you are in the market for one anyway, consider buying a more fuel efficient car or even a hybrid car. Hybrid cars are more expensive but you can get a federal tax credit which will offset much of the extra expense and if you do a lot of driving, the money you save on gas will offset the rest.
8. Carpool.
