DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. plans to fix 17,600 Mercury Milan and Ford Fusion gas-electric hybrids because of a software problem that can give drivers the impression that the brakes have failed.

Yes. It really is. Face it. Ford is a global company based in the US. It’s not owned in anyway by the US.

Incorrect. Toshiba is a PUBLIC company owned by the public. On the other hand, GM is a PRIVATE company owned mainly by the US Government. Please learn about corporations. Having the global headquarters in a country does not mean that country owns the corporation.

TOSHIBA is a Japanese owned manufacturer, but often with american components/software.
Toyotas are ugly and unexciting. To say Ford is part Toyota is nuts.
    I’d buy honda over toyota

It’s like saying a Toshiba laptop with Microsoft and NVIDIA isn’t a Japanese computer.

Thanks adamsad1, I’m glad I’m not the only one doing the math. At $3.15 over 200,000 mile lifetime I’m showing about $7500 savings on fuel or roughly a break even. Looks like Prius wins when it comes to penny pinching. All of these cars will protect your wallet against gasoline over $5 a gallon.

  15. gunzkevin says:

    Ford has more …
Ford has more plants in the us than toyota does so don’t make it seem that toyota is employing more ppl in the us. And the money that ford makes from the sale of a car made in a different country goes to Ford, not the plant, but Ford, so they can keep open their plants in the US and employ more ppl than toyota.

  16. gunzkevin says:

    Actually the fusion …
Actually the fusion hybrid doesn’t use a Toyota hybrid system like the altima. Do some research please.

Then you might want to urge Ford to develop their own batteries and stop building their cars in “another country” as you just pointed out.

Oh sorry, was busy having a life. Forgot about our little conversation here. Never said that the Japanese don’t make good cars either. You like to make assumptions, don’t you?
My original point had nothing to do with parts or licensing. It has to do with buying something that will help out your economy. Not the economy of another country.
    Do you like your job?

  20. dortmundpls says:

    Where’d ya’ go half …
Where’d ya’ go half pint? I did a little research and it appears that your Fusion’s hybrid battery is made by Sanyo, a Japanese firm and the hybrid technology it uses is licensed by guess who, Toyota. I think it’s a good thing that companies are sharing technology, don’t you? Or perhaps shame on Ford for having anything to do with those foreigners. Idiot

    @DuffyownsYou So …
@DuffyownsYou So what, this isn’t a spelling contest. The point is that there aren’t hardly any cars built totally in the US anymore. I am impressed with the engineering that went into my Prius, and it is the leader at getting high mpg. Again, the Fusion is built in Mexico, so where does the money go in that case? Toyota has been building plants here, providing US jobs, while Ford and GM are building plants south of the border. It’s just true, the Japanese build great cars, get over it.
