What are career fields that relate to the science of the Hybrid car (particularly the Toyota Prius)?

If possible, can you also provide me information about the career fields?

That would be engineering. In particular the specific fields would be electrical and mechanical engineering. Obviously with mechanical engineering you’d be studying how the various parts of the car work physically, while with electrical you’d be studying the electrical systems.

I would guess that electrical engineering would be the most relevant field if you want to learn about hybrids.

You could study battery technology for hybrid cars since they run on battery and gas engines. Maybe thats a electric engineer.

The Prius is old technology and on the way out, along with all the other parallel hybrids, most experts agree that this technology is being quickly oudated. New diesel technologies will rival or surpass the parallels, also, the new plug in Volt is going to be a game changer.

The most options available will come from physics, general or material sciences, or engineering,

Check out a company called A123. They hold a patent for a much lighter, smaller, more powerful lithium ion battery already in use now. They are called one of 15 companies that will change the world!

They must be on to something as Toyota has started a smear campain against this technology. Sound like they’re worried!
