Need maintenence and care information about hybrid cars. And could you recommend a good hybrid car?

I am looking for a new car. I know that hybrids get very good gas mileage, but I do not know much about them. (Do you have to plug them in to an outlet??? I’ve heard that, but it’s not true, right? Because if it is true, then that would definitely not be saving me any money.)
Some website links to information about hybrid care and maintenence would be nice. However, I would rather that you tell me about your own positive/negative experiences with hybrid cars and give me a couple of links to websites that might be useful.
Also, I wouldn’t mind it if you recommended a good car for me. I commute 2 hours a day 5 days a week so gas milage and durability are very important. Right now I’m looking at the Honda Civic Sedan Hybrid (2008) which gets 45 mpg and the Toyota Camry Hybrid (2009) which gets 46 mpg. If you own one of these cars or if you know of another auto manufacturer who sells good hybrid cars in the $20,000- $30,000 price range, please let me know. Thanks.
Please do not use automotive jargon- I’m not a car expert. If I were, I would not be asking this question.

Forget about Hybrid’s.Especially in your situation.Hybrids only have an advantage in short-range "Stop-and-go"On long-range it’s a 4-cylinder balasted with several hundred pounds
of an e-motor and batteries.Nobody says, that the batteries have to be changed every 3-5 years;costing a lot;if you calculate this realisticly,Hybrids are definitely not as economic as everybody says.
In your situation, there is nothing up against a modern turbo-diesel.I have a Volkswagen, and I get 47mpg in everyday-use;on trips like yours.
An alternativ would be a modern Direct-injection gasoline car, powered by CNG (Compressed Natural Gas).Economicly these beats the hell even out of the diesels.(30% cheaper to drive)Yet this might not be available to you,and eventually might overstretch your abilities.(no offens intended)
