Why hasen’t the government cut down on vehicle emitions and made automakers produce only hybrid automobiles?

They have cut down on vehicle emissions and they can’t mandate that only hybrid cars be sold because we live in a capitalist state where the manufacturer can make what they feel will make them the most money.

    I have a question.

What are you going to do about recycling the batteries?

So far there is NO means to recycle them and they cause more of an environmental issue.

Besides, Government is not what controls the population. the population controls the government. Not everyone wants a Hybrid piece of JUNK….

The batteries cost five thousand dollars to replace when they go bad after 3-4 years. So let say you can barely afford the car, license, taxes, fuel, Food, rent, and other necessities what do you do when the battery won’t hold a charge?

Why haven’t we stopped buying cars until the auto companies produce better ones?
Because we are gullible and programmed by years and years of advertising and marketing research into what emotional buttons (our lizard brains) can be pushed to make us do stupid things. Since we elect the government, the result is inevitable.
    Two words: Consumption Tax.

Hybrid automobiles are something new and cost a lot more than a vehicle that is not hybrid. I don’t think the hybrid is the answer to our fuel problem – it is kind of a quick fix. We need more research to find a way to minimize out dependence on foreign oil.
