If your new Hybrid car doesnt have a carpool sticker…?

Monday, March 15th, 2010

since CA reached the maximum and no longer gives the carpool sticker out, what if someone was to buy a new toyota prius and put fake stickers on their Hybrid. Is this something cops would even check on as they pass you or pull you over?

If so, is it the same violation as someone who isn’t riding with more than one and sneaks into the carpool lane without a hybrid?

You no longer need the sticker.

The Peugeot 908 Hy Race Car Hybrid

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Peugeot’s 908 HY
The new hybrid 908 HDi FAP powerplant.

Peugeot Sport has unveiled a new hybrid 908 HDi FAP powerplant.

The car, presented at the final Le Mans Series race at Silverstone in September and called 908 HY, features a kinetic energy recovery system.

This HY technology sees some of the kinetic energy produced under braking either recovered or stored. And this means enhanced performance with no increase in the amount of energy consumed due to a combination of the stored mechanical energy and the energy produced by the internal combustion engine.

It also reduces fuel consumption for the same level of performance, again thanks to the stored mechanical energy.

Peugeot Sport Director Michel Barge says: This hybrid 908 HDi FAP is in perfect keeping with the overall mission of our endurance racing programme which covers not only the challenge of competing, but also the fact that as a car manufacturer we can use motor sport as a research and development tool for the Peugeot brand as a whole.’

The 908 HY can be powered by electric mode, internal combustion engine or a combination of the two.

Unveiled with a new silver-grey livery, it is a taster of what Peugeots next endurance racing car could look like. Yet whether or not it makes it onto the racetrack depends on new regulations, to be published by the Automobile Club de lOuest, that will govern LMP 1 cars from 2009.

Currently, in a non-hybrid car when the vehicle brakes, the energy from braking is lost.
The HY system has three elements which allows it to recover and use some of this energy:

1. A 60 kW gear-driven electric motor-generator which takes the place of the conventional starter motor
2. Batteries which allow recovered energy to be stored in 600 lithium-ion cells, divided into ten battery packs
3. An electronic power converter which controls the flow of energy between the batteries and the motor-generator

The technology could also be seen in other Peugeot vehicles.
Michel Barge adds: After innovating through the use of our HDi FAP technology in competition, running a hybrid car in endurance racing would give Peugeot a chance to gain extremely valuable experience that would benefit the development of production cars.

I plan on leasing a new hybrid?

Friday, March 5th, 2010

I am planning on leasing out a new hybrid car/suv. I need one that has alot of room for carrying things (possibly a hatch back?) or SUV.

My target range is right around $200-250 a month… Can anyone help create a list of newer (2004-2008) Hybrids that are stylish and efficient?

Any extra info is a plus!

2008 Ford Escape or 2008 Mercury Mariner. Good mileage and fair price. I don’t know about $250 a month though. I sell cars and unless you are going to put a good and I mean a good down payment then it’s not going to be around that area.

Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid 2 Electric Motors Super Race Car First Look Geneva Motor Show 2010

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid Super Race Car First Look Geneva Motor Show 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid to Celebrate World Debut in Geneva Porsche AG will unveil the 911 GT3 R hybrid on March 4th in Geneva, exactly 110 years after Ferdinand Porsche developed the world’s first car with hybrid drive, the Lohner Porsche Semper Vivus. This will open a new chapter in the history of Porsche with more than 20,000 wins in 45 years scored by the extremely successful Porsche 911 in racing trim. The innovative hybrid technology featured in the car has been developed especially for racing, standing out significantly in its configuration and components from conventional hybrid systems. The car features electrical front axle drive with two electric motors developing 60 kW each supplements the 480-bhp four-litre flat-six at the rear of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid. A further significant point is that instead of the usual batteries in a hybrid road car, an electrical flywheel power generator fitted in the interior next to the driver delivers energy to the electric motors.

California allows people with enough money to by new Hybrid cars?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

California allows people with enough money to by new hybrid cars and use the diamond lane for commuting. How can the most liberal state in the union do this to the poor. California now supports a two class commuter system, the rich whom get to use the commuter lane with only one occupent in the car and the poor whom do not.

The "carpool" lanes are designed to encourage the reduction of fuel consumption and pollution caused by cars. Two hybrid cars would arguably use less fuel than one SUV with two passengers, so it meets the same goal.

It has nothing to do with class or income equality, and shouldn’t.

liberal politics has nothing to do with helping the poor, it has to do with making the rich and powerful feel all warm and fuzzy about themselves.

How does everyone feel about this new aptera 3 wheeled car that gets 300 miles to the gallon.?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

This is a new hybrid car that looks like a mix between a UFO and a jet, it is running at 30,000 dollars but just think about how much money that would save people annually, and save the environment to.
Say goodbye to chevron and shell…

not at 30k. it has to get under 10k to sell to the populace. and if they were not so greedy, it would work.

China, Meet Detroit: BYD F3DM @ NAIAS

Friday, February 26th, 2010

MORE DETROIT AUTO SHOW COVERAGE:

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/autoshows/detroit/2009/bydnews.html

Chinese automaker BYD Auto Company pitched its F3DM plug-in electric hybrid car to U.S. consumers on Monday at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show and said it plans to begin selling its vehicles here in 2011.

BYD also left the door open for building cars in the U.S. BYD Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu said in a statement that the company plans to establish manufacturing facilities in the U.S. “when it is appropriate.”

Wang was backstopped at Monday’s press event by David Sokol, chairman of MidAmerican Energy Holdings, the energy wing of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, which last fall acquired a 10 percent stake in BYD Auto’s parent company, BYD Company LTD.

“We are working with BYD on developing charging technologies and infrastructure that would help promote plug-in hybrid and all-electric vehicles,” Sokol said. “For the electric-vehicle market to mature, the underlying charging infrastructure and technologies must mature at least simultaneously, if not first. Perhaps like no other corporate entity in the world, we are in a position to help make that happen.”

Last month, BYD kicked off sales of its plug-in electric hybrid car in China — at least a year ahead of competitors in the U.S. and Japan. The F3DM plugs into a standard outlet and comes with a small gas engine that can recharge the battery on the go.

The Wall Street Journal on Monday noted that “no startup has grown into a major automaker in at least half a century” and added that “it’s still a bumpy road to a full-blown era of battery cars.” But Wang told the Journal that “with electric vehicles, we’re all at the same starting line.”

So now that the senate has passed the "cash for clunkers" bill, are you buying a new hybrid car?

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Will you trade your old clunker for a new gas efficient car? You could get up to a $4,500 rebate! Add that to the $8,500 Obama will give you when you buy a house & you’ll be sitting pretty. Isn’t life just too sweet?
I’m absolutely loving my new prius… it’s cooler than cool!

No.
I can’t take advantage of the "Car Allowance Rebate System".
I don’t own a car. I am in the auto business and have the benefit of driving dealer vehicles since 1983.

I will be helping consumers to take advantage of the program though.

The Ford team has been involved in the development of the CARS act and truly believes this program is a big win for everyone:

For consumers – this action provides them something very tangible in this economic environment
For the economy – it supports the automotive industry which plays such an important role in the overall health of our economy
For the environment – because it allows us to get greener faster, in terms of taking less fuel efficient vehicles off the road and putting more fuel efficient vehicles on the road
For our dealers – this program provides tremendous opportunity to reach out to a huge base of customers and sell them one of outstanding new products.

The government has set up an official website to help Dealers (who will be administrating the rebates) and consumers answer all the confusing qualifications.

And as the program is set to take affect next month , I am setting up email alerts to keep me informed of all the qualifications.
