I read that batteries used or planned to be used in electric vehicles have problems on being recycleable. Is it true?
all batteries are recyclable. the metals are 100% recyclable, the plastic in the cases are ground up and mixed with new plastic and thus is recycled. the electrolyte solutions are reconstituted and reused. these days very little goes to waste when recycling batteries.

Electric or Hybrid Car Batteries: Are they recycleable?
Thursday, April 22nd, 2010What would the impact be of a 10% increase in hybrid cars every 5 years until a saturation point was reached?
Thursday, April 22nd, 2010projections from the automobile and energy industry?
my honest impression is this:
electric cars are taking off with innovations in batteries we are getting better and better cars. There is a hybrid sports car that goes abot 200 miles on a charge and does 0-60 in 4 sec.
I think if hybrids continue to increase we will have lower gas prices and an increasing demand for better more fuel efficient cars.

Is there a tariff on foreign made automobiles? Shouldn’t the U.S. tariff those that use fossil-fuels?
Wednesday, April 21st, 2010In other words, the government would levy a tariff on foreign cars that use gas (petroleum-based) except maybe hybrids. This would give a boost to the American auto-industry if Americans continue to demand their SUV’s. If the demand for SUV’s is low and we switch to cleaner cars, then that’s great for the environment… and those auto-makers who put out cleaner cars! What am I overlooking here?
Why give a boost to the American auto industry if they put out an inferior product? Wouldn’t you be hurting the consumer by (1) making him pay more for a superior car or (2) forcing him to buy a piece of junk? If the American auto industry wants to stay competitive, they should develop a profit model that does not revolve around attrition.
If you care about the environment, all SUVs should be taxed at a higher rate, foreign and domestic, and all hybrids should be given a tax subsidy. Or better yet, tax all gasoline, which is easier to implement, and SUV owners would feel a greater impact because their cars get lower gas mileage.

A comical music video about driving hybrid cars to aid the environment-a comical video on a serious matter. Starring-Nate, Liam, Austin, Mark. (See Lyrics Below)
we roll in a hybrid
we are environmentally sound
we roll in a hybrid
when we hit the town
gas and electric
pumpin less junk into the air
bein a service to the atmosphere
we’re aware and we’re sparin the air
we roll in a hybrid
we break the traditions
forget about the emissions
and start the ignition
while the others sit wishin
they were like us cause
we roll in a hybrid
any fool can make his engine rev
but whats really cool is ridin in a PZEV
with our hybrid technology
we get mad props on our MPG
we roll in a hybrid
all the exhaust automobiles spew
were trying to reduce the CO2
so the air is clean, and our skys blue
cause, Mother Nature, IOU
we roll in a hybrid
if guzzlin gas is your predilection
then you’re drivin in the wrong direction
the problem is our oil addiction
hybrids are the treatment for this affliction
we roll in a hybrid
my friends and I, we like to carpool
burnin less fuel on the way to our school
the dudes at the station hardly every see us
cause of the gas mileage of my 06 Prius
we roll in a hybrid
there are many ways we can battle air pollution
and here’s how you can become part of the solution
if you’re lookin for wheels, go and get a hybrid
you’ll see how it appeals, like my homies and I did
we roll in a hybrid
so everybody, please join the fight
against global warming and our oil appetite
we gotta preserve the planet for human habitation
so lets make this country a hybrid nation

Considering all costs, should I spend more for a hybrid vehicle? Cost for gas, repairs, insurance, etc.?
Monday, April 19th, 2010Does it make sense to buy a 2008 Tahoe Hybrid for $50,000 to save on gas, or would I pay less getting a different vehicle for a lower initial price, but higher gas cost? I need a vehicle that seats 6, any make or model, just looking for best overall value for buying it and cost of gas. Minivans are cheap, but the hybrids get about twice the miles per gal. of gas, so my gas cost is split almost in half. We drive about 20,000 miles per year. Any suggestions appreciated!
No Hybrids.
You need to change the Hybrid powertrain every 3-7 years. It costs $3000-5000 to fix.
Saturn Vue seats 6 and gets good gas mileage for an SUV.
Honda Odysee is best Minivan in its class.
Honda Pilot is a good car.
